MY BUILDS
A Makita
or, The Virtue of Stubborness
(placeholder image)
This is meant to be my ideal personal bike. I named it like that because I used the Makita (angle grinder) a lot when making it.
Cool things about Makita:
- She is made of steel, which means she is very capable of outliving me, but also that she is easy to fix if something goes wrong. When I got her the frame was very misaligned, and also didn't quite fit the fixed gear hub I bought, so I bent the frame using a broom handle as a lever. And, if she is ever ripped in half or something, it's not that hard to put her back together.
- She uses 26' wheels with thick spokes laced in a 4 cross pattern and very thick tires, so she is even stronger, and also absorbs quite a lot of impact despite having a rigid fork.
- She is a fixed gear bike, which makes her rider (me) a "based fixiechad"

She looked quite like this before I got to work on her.
